What happened

The Browns selected Florida offensive tackle Austin Barber with the No. 86 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Cleveland's official writeup says Barber appeared in 50 career games at Florida and made 39 starts, including 34 at left tackle and five at right tackle. He started every game across his junior and senior seasons and earned All-SEC honors. After taking Spencer Fano earlier in the draft, the Browns added another tackle prospect with a long college starting résumé.

Why it matters

Barber gives Cleveland another young tackle option in a draft class built heavily around the line of scrimmage and pass-catching help. The important part for Browns fans is the profile: lots of SEC snaps, most of them at left tackle, with some right-tackle experience as well. The next public evidence will come when Cleveland shows how Barber fits into summer reps and roster competition.
